Andrew's First Concert

Friday morning was Andrew's first school concert! It was the K-Grade 1. I don't know about the rest of you who are parents, but Andrew looked a little different up there, not quite like the little boy I see every day. Maybe because it was a reminder of how fast he's growing up. The K's sang a song that had me a little teary. It went something like, "I'm in Kindergarten now," and talked about how big they are growing and that they'll be in first grade in the fall. Sniff, sniff! After the Kindergartners were done singing, Andrew came and sat on my lap for the first grade portion. There were no empty seats by me, and I don't know when the last time was that I got to hold him for half an hour straight.

I'm glad that he's still willing to be affectionate to mommy at school. In addition to sitting on my lap, he has a few school journal entries about me; one from awhile back was, "My mom is nice." I was also recently helping with a small group of kids in his class. Andrew put his hand on my arm and said, "I love my mom!"

These are some of the memories I'll always cherish because parenting isn't always easy.

Here goes...ramblings about my kids

Disclaimer: if you don't like hearing about my kids, you won't enjoy reading my blog either! I have the feeling that the majority of my posts will be about them.

I was just thinking recently that I'm so thankful that my kids get along...most of the time. They will literally spend hours playing with each other or near each other. Of course, we do have conflicts now and then. Tonight, for whatever reason, Andrew decided that he didn't want Ellie playing the piano. He went and made a sign: "No Prelude for Ellie" with the word prelude crossed out. He didn't know how to spell piano, and apparently just copied the word that started with a p that was on the piano. While he was making his sign, Ellie feel and got hurt. He tells her, "Me, mommy, and daddy will take care of you!" Funny how he's bossing her around and taking care of her all at the same time.

Drawn in to the Addiction

I've been debating for quite awhile about starting a blog. I mean, honestly, how exciting is my life to the average person? I finally decided to do it for myself and for the people closest to me. I can't promise I'll keep up here, but I want to have a place to share thoughts, events in my life, and my kids' milestones. Often my kids will say or do something that I think I should really write down, kwim?

So here goes...
